NEWS CENTER- Partizan held protests in Vienna, Austria and Zurich, Switzerland, for Chairman Gonzalo, the leader of the Communist Party of Peru (CPP), who has been in isolation for many years despite serious health problems.
In the press statements held in front of the Peruvian Consulates on Friday, August 27, with the banners of Partizan and PGI/MLM with the slogan “Let’s Defend the Life of Chairman Gonzalo” were carried. In the statement made on behalf of Partizan, it was stated that Chairman Gonzalo should be released immediately and his treatment should be started immediately under appropriate conditions.

Chairman Gonzalo, the leader of the Communist Party of Peru, has been kept in a solitary cell since his captivity -September 12, 1992- despite his advanced age and serious health problems. Chairman Gonzalo, who was in severe isolation, suffered a heart attack on July 17 and was hospitalized. Lately, we learned that Gonzalo had a type of skin cancer and that the cancer metastasized due to the lack of necessary treatment.
Chairman Gonzalo has been the undisputed leader of the Peruvian People’s War, which held great hopes for the oppressed peoples of the world from the 80s to the early 90s. He became one of the architects of the formulation of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism, disseminating Chairman Mao’s contributions to Marxism-Leninism on an international scale.
In the capture of Chairman Gonzalo, the CIA was partnered with the fascist Peruvian state. This attack of imperialism both in the person of CIA and the USA reveals the fear of people’s wars and the struggle for communism. Likewise, those who thought that they would humiliate Chairman Gonzalo by bringing to the court in an iron cage at the time of his imprisonment, were surprised when he turned this position into a communist propaganda arena.
Imperialism and fascism try to suppress the slightest struggle for rights against the oppression and exploitation system, and when it comes to communists, they attack with all their fury in order to eliminate the “danger” for themselves. The fact that Chairman Gonzalo was imprisoned today despite his advanced age and very serious health problems is an indication of this. The greatest fear of imperialism is the communists, who will lead the masses of the people and send imperialists to the dustbin of history. That is why the defense and embracing of Chairman Gonzalo and the Peruvian People’s War is an important task for communists and revolutionaries today.
The isolation and attack policies against communist and revolutionary prisoners in the person of Chairman Gonzalo must be exposed, and there must be a mass struggle against all attacks in prisons.
As Partizan, we demand the immediate release of Chairman Gonzalo and the immediate commencement of his treatment under favorable conditions. We declare that we will defend his life by diversifying our campaigns during the time of Chairman Gonzalo’s imprisonment! We embrace the struggles that have developed under the leadership of Marxist-Leninist-Maoist parties and organizations in the world, and we cry out once again with our belief that these struggles will achieve victory;
